What is golffitness?golffitness is part of South City Physiotherapy. We are a team of highly qualified physiotherapists with specialised training and interest in golf. We aim to tune your body for better golf by structuring a specific exercise programme tailored to your physiological weaknesses during your golf swing. This will reduce risk of golf swing related injury it will also increase your strength and flexibility for a more powerful and accurate golf swing. What is a Biomechanical Assessment?Biomechanical assessment involves assessing all your muscle groups, posture, joint ranges and seeing if there is any deviation from the normal. These findings determine any physical or postural limitations of the golfer. It enables us at golffitness to develop a personalised conditioning programme of stretches and strengthening exercises to maximise golf performance and prevent injuries. How will golffitness help my golf? The physiotherapists at golffitness are highly qualified and have undergone further specialised training in sports science and golf analysis along with pilates and other specific exercise prescription. Golf is a skilled game; apart from the technical know-how a golfer needs strength and flexibility. We can help you reach those technical goals set by yourself or your coach by providing you with a personalised stretching and strengthening programme, therefore preventing injury and allowing peak performance throughout your golf game. Do I need to be a good player? No definitely not! Whether you are an aspiring young junior just starting out; or a grandfather who enjoys his 9 holes of golf and just wants to continue playing into his 90's, we at golffitness would love to see you reach your potential or prolong your golfing life. We are dedicated to providing you with the tools to maximise your body's potential for better golf performance. What happens after the Biomechanical Assessment and Exercise Programme? After your assessment, any existing muscle imbalances or postural faults are determined. From this information we devise a specific stretching and or stability programme designed to improve your ability to achieve that perfect swing. Normally we organise at least 2 follow-up appointments to help you stay focussed and also to enable any progression in your programme. During this time we are also happy to liase with your golf professional, sometimes the technical fault he sees is the result of a tight or weak muscle. If you are interested we also provide a maintenance programme, which may involve you seeing your Physio every 4-6 weeks for further exercise and mobilisation as appropriate. This will help you maintain and improve any increased flexibility and strength. After all we are all after that consistent golf game. Does my injury have to be caused by golf? No. golffitness operates within the South City Physiotherapy Centre, a Practice established in1995 dedicated to providing effective and professional physiotherapy service to our clients. The physiotherapists are highly qualified in treating all musculoskeletal problems or injuries that may be interfering with your golf. Some of our physiotherapists have further qualifications in manipulative physiotherapy and sports physiotherapy we have also undergone specialised training in the body mechanics of the golf swing. Through a personal evaluation assessment and treatment of your injury we are able to reduce your down time from golf and prolong your enjoyment and golfing life. Do I need to have a referral? No a referral is not necessary. All you need to do is phone for an appointment. If your doctor has sent you we will correspond with him in regard to your treatment and progress. If your golf coach has sent you, we will liase with him to help determine if your problem is physiological or technical. If you would like we will even come down the driving range and work with you and your pro. If your problem needs further medical intervention we will work with you to organise any referrals necessary.
